For those passengers wanting to see everything, this is the tour for you? An abundance of Penguins, birdlife, flora and amazing scenery are all included in this tour. 

This epic journey starts with passengers being collected from the pier by their experienced local driver/guide in a 4x4. Your 6 hour tour starts with a 1½ hour drive along an un-surfaced road taking in the beauty of the Falklands rugged landscape and farm land, you will then leave the un-surfaced road for a 30 minute “off-road” experience en-route to your destination.

At North Pond you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with an abundance of Gentoo and Magellanic penguins, King Penguins which regularly visit can been seen wandering the very beautiful sandy beach which stretches for approximately half a mile. The pure white sand, crystal blue water and wandering penguins gives passengers magnificent photogenic opportunities. Peale’s Dolphins can occasionally be seen frolicking in the surf, and abundance of other birdlife such as Upland Geese, Grebes, Turkey Vultures, Flightless Steamer Duck and many other species can be seen.

Stanley History Tour

This two and a half hour guided walk through Stanley is an ideal opportunity to understand the pioneering history of the tiny capital of the Falkland Islands and all of its fascinating evidence of very British roots.

Beginning at the Jetty Visitor’s Centre the group will move East past the offices of the Falkland Islands Company, once the islands’ largest landowner. Continuing East will bring the tour to the Cross of Sacrifice dedicated to those who died in WW1 followed by a walk through the older part of the Stanley cemetery.

Walk Stanley

On your arrival into Stanley Harbour the first thing you will notice is the fantastic colours of our capital and what better way to get acquainted than with a guided leisurely walk through our picturesque streets.

The walk takes in key sights around Stanley such as Christ Church Cathedral, Whale Bone Arch, the mizzen mast of the SS Great Britain on Victory Green, the 1982 Battle Memorial, Government House with it’s beautiful gardens, 1914 memorial and the shipwreck the Jhelum, which was built in Britain in 1849. It also gives you a great foundation to explore further after the tour has ended. Falklands Nature Trek

For the nature enthusiast, this is an exclusive opportunity to view Falkland Islands wildlife and flora. Passengers will be transported from the Jetty Visitors Centre by mini bus to nearby Whalebone Cove; where the walk will begin. This tour entails 3.5 miles of brisk walking over uneven terrain, so passengers must be physically able. This walk is classed as strenuous due to the rough terrain.

Stanley Audio Tour

Duration: 2 hours   Transport: foot

stanley5.jpg For the independent traveller who wishes to do things at their own pace, this tour is ideal for gaining knowledge about the town without having to keep up with or wait for a guide.

 This tour is the only one of its kind in the Falklands. It is a 2.2 mile walk along a fully paved surface using   modern hand-held audio “wands” that contain information describing various features of interest on the route. Along with the wand, visitors are also given a map, which identifies key sights. Each sight on the map is numbered and the wand is   programmed with the same numbers. Seaquest Kidney Island

Duration: 3 hours   Transport: Catamaran

This expedition style catamaran crewed and guided by two Islanders is the ideal boat for observing Sea lions, Penguins and Dolphins either from the bow, flybridge or sheltered stern area. Passing through the Narrows the catamaran will pass by Sparrow Cove and into Hells Kitchen where we would hope to view Gentoo Penguins porpoising through the clear waters of the South Atlantic. 

Rounding Mengeary Point we will start to observe Sooty Shearwaters, Black Browed Albatross and Giant Petrels before approaching Kidney Island. We will spend at least half an hour around Kidney before returning to Stanley or the cruise liner by a different route.

Stanley Highlights

This is the ideal tour, if you wish to see the highlights of Stanley in a short space of time.
 
Passengers will firstly be met by a local guide to get an introduction to the Falklands small capital. As the coach drives along Ross Road, Stanley’s main Street which runs along the sea front, the guide will be proud to point out everything that may be of interest to passengers. An official Stanley guide book, which is part of the tour, will come in handy to make the Stanley introduction more rewarding.

Falkland Battlefields

Duration: 4 hours   Transport: Coach

This tour transports the visitor to the time of the Falkland Islands Conflict, taking in numerous battlefield sites and three Battle Memorials.
 
At the pier you will board your coach and be met by your experienced guide, your journey begins on the way to Fitzroy where your guide will set the scene of the political atmosphere in the period before the conflict, and indeed the catalyst of the conflict. At Fitzroy you will make a 15 minute stop at the settlement hall for refreshments, before being transported over to Port Pleasant where you can visit the memorials for the Welsh Guards and Royal Fleet Auxiliary, also some personal memorials have been constructed on the hillside above.

Long Island Farm

longisland1.jpgLong Island is situated approximately 20 miles from Stanley and is a 23,000 acre sheep farm which belongs to 6th generation Falkland Island family (the Watson’s) who still live and farm in completely traditional Falkland style.

They farm using skilled sheep dogs and Falkland Island bred horses, milk their own cows, make their own bread, butter and cream and use the traditional fuel (peat) which is a tradition that has nearly died out in the Falklands.
