Exclusive to Sulivan Shipping Services.

John and Joyce Allan were born in the Falkland Islands and both are descendants of some of the first settlers in 1842. Joyce from the Biggs family, of Portsmouth and John from the Goss family, of London.

The land of our property was first registered under Crown Grant 16 in favour of Bartholomew James Sulivan on 20th September 1847. By 1886 the land was owned by Mrs Orisa Catherine Dean, the most affluent family in the Falkland Islands, who in 1887 had the four terraced dwelling houses built and named them “Jubilee Villas” in honour of the Golden Jubilee (50 years) of Queen Victoria’s eventual 61 year reign.

The property was designated as a building of special architectural or historic interest on 24th February 1998.

During the years 1880 to 1890 the German Kosmos Steamship Company of Bremen operated the external mail and shipping links between the Falklands and the outside world. For some of the time the German Consul lived at 39 Ross Road. There are old photographs showing the German flag flying fro the flagpole in the yard.

Visit this interesting local house and meet John and Joyce for a look around and a cup of tea and a biscuit! Jubilee Villas are approximately a 1 minute walk from the pier where you land; you will be met at the pier and escorted to the house.
